Little fish

Denton has been taking swimming lessons for the last couple weeks, he is doing great! The only part he doesn't like is doing back floats. He doesn't like the water in his ears. His favorite thing to do is dive for a carrot toy, he always comes up with a smile. He has had a lot of fun doing these lessons so I think we will try to get him into a sport soon. Here are some video's of his swimming.

Our New Addition

Well it's about time I post about our wonderful addition to our family. Juliette Marie Millet was born July 18 weighing in at 7lb 15oz and 22 1/2in long. No wonder why she was always in my ribs.

I'm very lucky and blessed to have such great pregnancy's. The first trimester I pretty much survived on potatoes and milk. That was all I could really tolerate without getting nauseous. The only problem I had in the second trimester was I was always stuffy and that lasted right up until the end. Third trimester Juliette was very comfortable in my ribs and of course I just got more and more uncomfortable.

If you don't want to read about my labor and delivery skip over this part. There wasn't a ton of progress by the time I was at the 40 week mark just enough to make me feel comfortable enough to get induced. We went to the hospital at about 3 and got things going. The nurse told me at about 4:30 that someone was going to come in and break my water. We waited and waited. Finally I called the nurse in because I thought they had forgotten about me, she told us that there was an emergency c-section and then 2 more c-sections before they would be in. At about 7:30 the anesthesiologist came in and gave me my epidural and shortly after that the Doctor came in and broke my water, I dilated pretty quickly after that and I pushed through 3 or 4 contractions(about 10 min) and our sweet little girl was here.

I had the best nurses! My good friend that I met in AZ who lives here was my nurse. It was a little weird having my friend do all the dirty work but at the same time it was great, we sat and chatted and laughed throughout my whole labor and delivery. I really mean through the whole thing, between pushing we were all laughing. It really was a fun experience. How many people can honestly say that about their labor and delivery.

Denton likes to help when she's crying. He gets upset if he's not the one who gives her her binky. He did want to move her but now he just wants to hold on to a corner of the blanket when I'm moving her some where. He's been really sweet with her, if she's upset and I'm busy he brings her his favorite blanket to try and comfort her. He isn't interested in holding her at all though, he has only held her once for 30 seconds maybe. I guess holding babies is just not his thing.

So far she has been a great baby. Her and Denton have been taking naps at the same time every day so that means I get a nap too. She will have a 5-6 hour sleeping stretch in the night too which is wonderful.

So far we are all adjusting well.

She's Crafty!

I think having a girl brought out all of my craftiness. I've made quite a few things for our little lady to wear and also for her room. Be prepared for a ton of pictures.
First of all Darwin's Mom painted these AWESOME paintings for the baby's room. Originally I was going to paint the 2 small ones and she was going to just paint the big one but I was having way too much fun sewing to paint. She ended up painting all of them. I love them.

Karen(my sister) re-painted my rocking chair and I made a seat cushion for it.

Karen also re-painted this dresser too and sprayed the handles and the 2 frames on top green. This is the cutest color of green! I can't get enough of it. I also sewed some material to the back of sheer curtains to keep the room darker.

I sewed the teething rail covers and matching crib skirt from scratch. I also recovered the bumper.

This is what the bumper looked like before...

Now for the most intimidating and biggest project, the carseat. I took it apart peice by peice and cut new fabric to recover it. We didn't buy gender neutral obviously so I wanted to make it extra girly because by the time we have another baby this carseat will be expired and we will have to buy a new one anyway.

Here's the before pictures.

And after.....

I love how it turned out! Now if you look too close you can see that a beginner did it but I'm proud of how it turned out, flaws and all!

Here are some skirts I made. Onsies I embellished and bows(that I have pics of) that I have made.

I still have a few more projects to do. I have more decorating projects to do for her room. I also want to make a couple of little tutu's for her and some other fun crafty girly things for her to wear. I'm telling you I just can't get enough of the frills and bows!

I got most of my patterns and ideas from other peoples blogs and tutorials on line, if you're interested in any let me know and I will send you a link.

I am SO excited to have a little girl in our house....if she would just get here! I hope the new addition post will be coming very soon!

And here's what I'm looking like now days.

Painting

This might prove that I'm a lame Mom but it is what it is. Denton painted for the first time a couple weeks ago. He had a really great time. It made me feel bad that I had deprived him of such fun until now. Here's how his first painting turned out. I plan on framing it and hanging it in his bedroom so he can see it and be proud of his artwork.

Oldies But Goodies

Until yesterday it had been a while since I posted anything so that means I need to update you on the last few months. This is old news for most of you but I thought I would post about it anyway.

First off, I'm pregnant. We found out the week before Thanksgiving. It still seems a little unreal because we have been trying for so long. I just can't get my head around it. We made the official announcement at our family Christmas parties. We will find out the sex at my ultrasound on the 25th of Feb. If my memory is correct I've been sicker with this pregnancy. It may not be true, you know you forget these things so you actually want to get pregnant again. I am feeling better now but in the beginning I wouldn't have survived without potatoes and milk.

Christmas was really fun. Denton understood a lot more this year. We got him a children's book about the first Christmas, he still wants us to read it to him because he likes it so much. He also got a lot more excited about the Santa part. He was really cute putting out the cookies for Santa and insisted on leaving carrots for the reindeer.

Valentine's Crafts

Lately I've loved doing cheap crafts. Here are the one's I did for Valentine's.

This is a straw wreath covered with cream yarn. I made the flowers with pink fabric and in the center I balled up some of the yarn and glued it in. Simple cheap and cute....at least I think so.

Wood blocks are so easy, fun and cheap! I go to Home Depot and get the wood out of the scrap bin and have them cut it. I usually spend .50 and get 2 sets of whatever I'm doing. My sister has vinyl and a cricut so she provides that and we both get to do a craft project for a couple bucks. The balls on the candlesticks are just styrofoam balls covered with valentines candies.
